SmartLibrary at IFLA WLIC 2025: Showcasing Innovation as Bibliotheca's Official Partner in Central Asia

The IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2025 took place from August 18-22 in Astana, Kazakhstan, bringing together over 1,600 delegates from more than 110 countries. As SmartLibrary, the official partner of Bibliotheca in Central Asia, we were proud to participate in this year's congress that highlighted the transformative power of libraries in an era of rapid technological and social change. The congress offered a rich academic agenda covering pressing topics such as digital inclusion, accessibility standards, and the role of libraries in fostering resilient communities. Beyond the sessions, the cultural backdrop of Astana—with its blend of modern architecture, vibrant traditions, and welcoming hospitality—created a unique stage for dialogue and exchange.

Showcasing Innovation

Throughout the event, our shared booth with Bibliotheca featured live demonstrations of their newest solutions: selfCheck 3000 and 2500 (sleek kiosks delivering user-friendly self-service experiences), flexAMH (next-generation automated materials handling system), and cloudCheck tablet (flexible mobile borrowing option). As SmartLibrary, we provided local context and demonstrated how these solutions are specifically adapted to meet the needs of libraries in our region. Visitors consistently praised the modern design, accessibility features, and ability of these solutions to streamline operations while enhancing patron engagement.

One of the most powerful aspects of our participation at IFLA WLIC 2025 was the visible collaboration with Bibliotheca and regional partners. As SmartLibrary, the official partner of Bibliotheca in Central Asia, we shared the exhibition space with Telelift and Hublet, highlighting the strength of an integrated ecosystem. Telelift demonstrated intelligent transport systems improving library logistics and workflows. Hublet showcased secure tablet lending solutions for digital inclusion. SmartLibrary brought invaluable local expertise and connections, amplifying the impact of Bibliotheca's presence in Central Asia.
